Yaesu FT-710

The FT-710 is a compact HF/6m SDR base radio. A single USB-B cable provides two virtual COM ports plus a built-in USB audio codec — no external audio interface or separate CAT cable needed. USB setup: Connect a USB-A to USB-B cable. Install the Yaesu Silicon Labs Dual CP210x driver on Windows; Linux/macOS enumerate both ports automatically. The Enhanced COM Port is CAT-1 (CAT control); the Standard COM Port is CAT-2 (PTT/keying via RTS/DTR, or a second CAT channel). Default CAT baud 38400. CAT: Yaesu 5-byte command format — frequency, mode, PTT, VFO, S-meter. Audio: Built-in USB audio codec. Set MOD SOURCE to REAR (PSK/DATA menu) so transmit audio comes from USB. Configure ORLP audio to the FT-710 USB codec. PTT: Key via CAT on CAT-1, or via RTS/DTR on CAT-2 — do not enable both simultaneously (set the radio's RTS/DTR PTT items OFF or to DAKY as needed).
