Yaesu DR-2X

The DR-2X is Yaesu's System Fusion II repeater. For analog ORLP linking it must run in external-controller mode, where ORLP becomes the repeat controller via the rear CONTROL I/O connector. Connector: The CONTROL I/O is a 3-row high-density DB15 (it physically resembles a VGA port but is NOT VGA-compatible — use a true HD15 1-to-1 cable). In external-controller mode the radio repeats only in FM FIX / FM FIX mode. Important caveat: In external-controller mode the DR-2X loses internal CTCSS/PL injection, so you must supply CTCSS externally — either an outboard tone source or ORLP's usbradio CTCSS encode in the transmit audio stream. Wiring: Route COS, PTT, RX audio, and TX audio between the CONTROL I/O connector and your USB radio interface (DMK URI, DRA, etc.). See the operating manual's CONTROL I/O pin table; mode-select lines are on the higher-numbered pins. Disable the internal ID and set the unit so external PTT drives transmit. Note: The DR-2X is largely locked down by Yaesu against modification — for heavy customization the original DR-1X is more flexible.
