Kenwood TM-D710GA

The TM-D710GA is the GPS/built-in-TNC evolution of the TM-V71A and interfaces identically for ORLP. It uses a rear DE-9 serial port on the main unit (community-documented Kenwood command set) plus a 6-pin mini-DIN DATA port. Serial connection: Connect a USB-to-serial adapter to the rear DE-9 on the radio main unit (not the control head). Set the PC port baud via the menu (default 9600, up to 57600), 8N1. Audio: Use the 6-pin mini-DIN DATA port. Pin 1: PKD discriminator audio output. Pin 3: PTT input (active low). Connect to a USB audio interface. PTT: Bring Pin 3 of the DATA port to ground to transmit with discriminator (DATA) audio. Note CAT PTT keys microphone audio, not DATA-port audio — use the DATA-port PTT for node operation. Built-in TNC: The internal KISS TNC is for APRS and is independent of ORLP linking.
