Icom IC-705

The IC-705 supports three connection methods for ORLP: Bluetooth Classic SPP, Bluetooth LE, and USB. USB is recommended for maximum reliability and full CAT capability. Connect a USB-C cable from the radio to your computer — the IC-705 presents two virtual COM ports (CI-V control and GPS/PTT) plus a built-in USB audio codec, so no external audio interface is needed. USB setup: In the IC-705 menu, navigate to SET > Connectors > USB(AF) and confirm the baud rate (default 115200). The CI-V address defaults to A4h. Both audio and CAT run over the same USB cable. Bluetooth: Pair the radio (device name ICOM BT(IC-705)). BT Classic SPP gives full CI-V control. BLE is also supported but uses an undocumented interface that Icom could change with a firmware update — use SPP for production nodes. Audio: Built-in USB codec handles audio when connected via USB. Set MOD INPUT to USB in the IC-705 menu for data mode operation. No external audio interface needed.
