Icom IC-2730A

The IC-2730A is a 50W dual-band (2m/70cm) FM mobile with simultaneous dual receive — a solid, rugged node radio. Unlike basic mobiles, it supports CI-V CAT control, so ORLP can read/set frequency and key PTT over a serial cable. CI-V setup: The control head's 3.5mm jack carries CI-V (I/O on the ring, audio on the tip per the CI-V reference). Connect a CI-V cable to a USB-to-CI-V adapter (CT-17-style) or a USB-serial adapter. CI-V address defaults to 90h; set a unique address if running more than one 2730 on the same PC. Set CI-V Transceive ON for real-time frequency readback. Audio: Take receive audio from the external speaker jack into your USB audio interface input; feed transmit audio back via the data/mic path. PTT: Key via CI-V command, or via the PTT line on the I/O cable. Bluetooth: Optional only — the UT-133A module + VS-3 headset add Bluetooth headset control, but this is not a node control interface, so leave it out of an ORLP build.
